Machine Gun America: Guns for Kids
New Theme Park Lets Kids Handle Semi-Automatic Guns
Orlando is America’s Theme Park mecca, home to Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, Epcot and other major attractions that are fun for the whole family, as the saying goes.
On Saturday, a new theme park is opening that not only targets kids, it encourages kids to target zombies, criminals and other make-believe nemeses with real, high-powered machine guns.
Yes, you read that right.
Machine Gun America bills itself as Orlando’s “most thrilling attraction….Whether you’re looking to unleash your inner action star or become a zombie hunter, experience the exhilarating rush of shooting real machine guns and powerful firearms for a thrill unlike any other.”
Machine Gun America is already taking bookings, and lists some of the scenarios into which young people and others will be able to take real firearms, everything from “special ops” to “the walking dread” to “gangster land.”
The Orlando Sentinel went down to Machine Gun America for a sneak peek a few days ago. One of the theme park’s employees demonstrated that they have everything from uzi-style weapons for “gangster” scenarios to World War I weapons for war situations.

This is a telling story of how quickly guns are bought, transported across state lines and used in illegal circumstances. For all the avid, near-rabid support of gun enthusiasts not to infringe upon their assumed 2nd Amendment rights by tightening regulation, say with background checks, or purchase limits, or waiting periods it is no surprise that not a day this month has gone by without a multiple shooting victims story making the headlines somewhere in the country. Two facts are central to understand the American Gun Disease: 1) the majority of guns used in crime are purchased through legal means and transported over state lines; 2) of the 314 M +/- firearms in the US 60% belong to fewer than 20% of gun owners - so is 22% of American's own guns, then 14M people own at least 188.4 M of them or 22% of all the firearms in the world, including the police and military - So I ask you, is that not a symptom of addiction? Obsession? Perhaps an indicator of mental illness (considering how many know mass shooters are among their numbers?)
